Breaking the "Perfect Wedding Day" Myth From a Wedding Photographer's POV

Let me say this first: there is no such thing as a perfect wedding day.
I know...that might sound surprising coming from someone whose job is literally to capture beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime moments. But after photographing so many weddings, I can tell you with complete confidence….the most meaningful, emotional, and unforgettable days are never the “perfect” ones.
They’re the real ones.

Somewhere along the way, weddings became this highly curated, pressure-filled production. Timelines packed to the minute. Pinterest boards stacked with expectations. A quiet (or not-so-quiet) feeling that everything has to go exactly right.
But here’s the truth no one talks about enough:
Something will go off plan. And that’s not a failure....it’s part of the story.
I’ve seen it all. Dresses that get a little dirty. Timelines that run behind. Ripped Groomsmen pants. Weather that does its own thing. Hair that won’t cooperate. Someone forgets something. Someone cries (sometimes a lot).
And you know what? Those are the moments that end up meaning the most.
Because perfection isn’t what makes your wedding day unforgettable, connection is.
It’s the way your partner looks at you when you’re not even paying attention.
It’s your mom fixing your dress with teary eyes.
It’s your friends hyping you up on the dance floor.
It’s the laughter, the chaos, the quiet in-between moments.
That’s what I’m watching for all day long.

As a photographer, I’m not there to document perfection. I’m there to tell your story as it actually unfolds. The real smiles. The real nerves. The real joy. And yes even the imperfect parts that make your day uniquely yours.
Because years from now, you’re not going to remember if everything went exactly according to plan. You’re going to remember how it felt.
So if you’re planning your wedding right now, here’s my advice:

Let go of the idea of perfect.
Give yourself space to be present.
Trust the process even when it gets a little messy.
Your wedding day isn’t a performance. It’s a celebration of your relationship, your people, and this incredible moment in your life.

And I promise you...those are the weddings that photograph the most beautifully.
If you’re looking for a photographer who values the real over the “perfect,” I’d love to be there to capture your day exactly as it is honest, emotional, and completely yours.
